KUALA LUMPUR: A “swingers” syndicate, which organised group sex for its 147,000 subscribers or “clients”, has been busted with the arrest of 36 people, including civil servants.
It is learnt that the syndicate, which operated online, offered subscribers a chance to swap partners as well as take part in group sex in condominiums around the Klang Valley.
Each customer was charged RM388 to become a subscriber.
Among the clients arrested were university students and civil servants.
The syndicate, led by a Singaporean and a Malaysian, was believed to have been operating since early this year.
After surveillance and intelligence gathering in June, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), along with other agencies including the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, raided a condominium in Mont Kiara at about 8.30pm on Aug 25.
CID deputy director Deputy Comm Fadil Marsus said 34 people – 18 men and 16 women – were detained in the first raid.
“Those detained included university students, civil servants, a French citizen, a Chinese national, a Nigerian, as well as individuals from the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
“The youngest person nabbed was a 19-year-old woman. The woman had joined their events frequently until the syndicate hired her as a co-host of a swingers’ event,” he said.
DCP Fadil said that further investigation led police to a condominium in Puchong where the Singaporean and Malaysian ringleaders were found.
“They were also the account holders who collected the subscription fees from customers,” he told a press conference at the CID headquarters yesterday.
Various items were seized, including sex paraphernalia, mobile phones, computers and cash.
DCP Fadil said the two ringleaders were the administrators of the online platform promoting the syndicate’s services.
Besides paying the RM388 subscriber’s fee, each client would be charged RM400 if they attended any sex-related event organised by the syndicate.
“It would cost another RM350 if they came with a partner,” he said.
To be accepted as a subscriber, he said the client would have to go through an interview process conducted by the syndicate.
“The syndicate would conduct a video interview with potential subscribers before they were accepted.
“For group sex events, the organisers would inform their clients a day prior to the event,” he said.
DCP Fadil said the syndicate would organise a meet-and-greet session prior to the start of any swingers’ gathering before the participants engaged in group sex.
“The group sex would be conducted in three rooms with boundaries and rules set by the organisers,” he added.
These swingers’ events would take place in different condominiums to evade the authorities and keep away from public attention, DCP Fadil said. He added that some of the attendees had participated in at least five swingers’ events.Besides organising these events, the syndicate would also upload pornographic videos and photos on their website.
“We will investigate the case further. We believe there are other online platforms that run similar services. We will track them down and nab them,” he said.
DCP Fadil said the police need the cooperation of the public to put a stop to such vice activities.
“We will conduct further operations based on our own intelligence gathering and information from the public,” he said.
