Fire destroys several shops in Klang

KLANG: The busy Jalan Tengku Kelana here became chaotic after a fire broke out in a row of shops.

According to Entrepreneurs Association of Little India Klang president Charles Manickam, the fire first started in his shop Yashree Store Sdn Bhd at about 10.30am on Thursday (Aug 15).

"It was due to a short circuit. The top floor of my wooden store is completely destroyed," said Manickam.

The outlet retails groceries as well as various other essential items.

He added that all his stock suffered extensive damage due to the spraying of water to contain the fire.

"The fire also spread to two adjacent shops and damaged the wooden top floors," said Manickam.

So far, the Fire and Rescue Department has yet to release details of the incident.
