IPOH: Proper infrastructure and a steady Internet connection are vital when enforcing the einvoicing scheme by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), says Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (pic).
The MCA deputy president said the government should do a proper study before implementing it instead of running an experiment, as there has been unnecessary confusion due to there being so many versions of the scheme in the last few months.
“The policy was supposed to be implemented in 2027, but was somehow pushed forward earlier. The Internet connectivity in rural and some urban areas is not steady, and this poses huge problems for businesses,” said Dr Mah.
He said this in his speech at the Perak MCA annual convention at the Ipoh Red Crescent Hall on Saturday (Aug 10) which was opened by party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

On einvoicing, Dr Mah added that this was part of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in normal circumstances.
“People will not do einvoicing without implementing GST. In other countries, einvoicing is not implemented without introducing GST.
“If the government implements GST at 4%, they are able to generate more income, more than any sort of taxation system being imposed now,” said Dr Mah.
Dr Mah then said that DAP prioritises small issues but stays silent on major matters, citing an example by saying that the Unified Examination Certificate recognition was no longer an issue for DAP.
“Also, DAP used to make so much noise about bringing back local council elections. They now prioritise issues like the BMW (bersih, menawan, wangi) toilets, and other issues are brushed aside,” he added.
Dr Mah also said MCA must strengthen camaraderie among members.
“We must attract the support of youth and be more open to their views as an effort to groom the new generation of leaders.
“We must use information technology to disseminate information on the party to let people know about our struggle and the need for more brainstorming programmes,” he added.
