Three nabbed in Ipoh for throwing molotov cocktail at house

IPOH: Three men have been arrested by police for throwing a molotov cocktail at a house in Bercham, near here.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said with their arrests, police believed they have solved several other similar cases in Ipoh.

The three he said were arrested in different locations in Johor Baru by the Perak Criminal Investigation Department officers on Wednesday (Aug 7).

He said the arrests were made following a police report lodged by a man on Aug 6 at about 9.17pm, stating that molotov cocktail had been hurled at his house.

Comm Azizi said the crime is believed to have happened in relation to loan shark activities.

“The three arrested are in their 20s and are believed to be paid RM1,000 each by a suspect still at large.

“All three are tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 8).

He said all three suspects have previous criminal and drug-related records.

“The three have been remanded until Aug 12, and the case is investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire,” he added.

Comm Azizi advised the people to avoid taking loans from unlicensed moneylenders.

He said any information related to any criminal activities could be challenged to the control centre at 05-2542222, or at any nearest police station.
