Any review of GDP forecast will be made in Budget 2025, says Rafizi

PUTRAJAYA: Any review of the gross domestic product (GDP) forecast will be included in Budget 2025, says Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

He added, however, that he is not aware of any plan for a review.

“It has not been discussed.

“Whatever forecast (review) will be included in the Budget, since it is almost August,” he said at the launch of the Economic Census 2023 here on Monday (July 29).

He was asked if the government would review the GDP forecast given better estimates for the second quarter of this year.

In March, Bank Negara projected between 4% and 5% GDP growth for Malaysia this year.

Last week, the Statistics Department estimated that Malaysia’s economy would expand by 5.8% in the second quarter, up from 4.2% in the first.
