Man charged with two counts of raping daughter

KUALA PILAH: A 52-year-old man was charged at the Sessions Court here with two counts of raping his daughter.

The father, a rubber tapper, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before judge Norma Ismail here yesterday.

For the first charge, he was accused of raping the girl around 10.30pm between Nov and Dec 2019 at a house in Gemencheh.

She was then 19.

For the second charge, he allegedly committed the offence at the same house on July 8 this year.

The accused was charged under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between 10 years and 30 years and whipping, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni offered the accused bail of RM10,000 with one surety for each charge, and asked the court to order him to stay away from the victim.

When Judge Norma asked the accused if he wished to appeal for a lower bail, the accused said he did not.

Norma then fixed bail at RM10,000 with one surety for each offence, and ordered the accused not to contact the victim.

She set Aug 26 for remention.

Police arrested the accused on July 14 after the victim’s aunt lodged a police report.

Police said the victim, who has a learning disability, had also given birth to a baby girl – who is now four years-old.
