Bestinet: 24 unauthorised users approved by officials

PETALING JAYA: Bestinet Sdn Bhd has said the 24 “unauthorised users” had been approved by Human Resources Ministry officers, as contained in the PAC report.

The report yesterday quoted Bestinet chief technology officer Muhammad Shukri Abdul Mutalib as saying that the company had informed the Human Resources Ministry on who had given the approval.

“Based on our technical findings, we informed the Human Resources Ministry that all 24 applications that were submitted by the company were actually approved by ministry officers.

“In terms of reporting, we had already submitted it to the Human Resources Ministry and informed them on who the approving officers were,” he said.

In response, Mas Ermieyati asked if that meant the issue of the unauthorised users had been identified.

“So, what you mean is that the issue of the 24 unauthorised users have been identified and the accompanying report sent to Kesuma (the Human Resources Ministry), correct?” she said.

Both Muhammad Shukri and Bestinet chief executive officer Muhammad Shukri Abdul Mutalib were quoted in the report as answering in the affirmative.

Among other findings in the report, said Mas Ermieyati, is that Bestinet had patented its trademark and copyright for the purpose of safeguarding the interests of the government.

“Bestinet will hand over the whole system, including the tools, software, documentation and intellectual property to the government even if the FWCMS contract is not extended.

“Bestinet also gave its commitment to not claim any patent registered from the government if the contract for FWCMS is not continued,” she said.
