Absent 399 to resit SPM exam

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 399 out of 10,160 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates who did not show up last year have been persuaded to retake the exam, says Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh.

The Education Ministry had tracked down the students and managed to convince 399 of them to re-register and sit for the exam in February 2025, he told the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

“We managed to get 399 of the absent candidates to sit for SPM this year,” Wong said in response to an oral question from Roslan Hashim (PN-Kulim Bandar Baharu) about the ministry’s action to overcome the issue of absenteeism involving 10,160 out of 38,3685 SPM 2023 candidates.
