DNB yet to appoint CEO amid 5G rollout

SUBANG JAYA: No chief executive officer has been picked yet for Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), says Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

The company, which was set up in 2021 by the Finance Ministry to roll out Malaysia’s 5G infrastructure, has been without a CEO since last year.

Gobind said the decision on DNB’s CEO might be finalised later, as the process of its share subscription agreements (SSA) are ongoing till the end of this week.

On June 20, DNB confirmed that four mobile network operators had met all conditions under the SSA, which means that they would take up equity ownership in the company.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Gobind said that after the SSA, the directors at DNB would meet to decide on its direction.

“During that discussion, the question of who will be the CEO will be dealt with,” he said.

Gobind said the appointment of the CEO was not discussed with him.

“This is a matter among the directors of DNB. That is the process they will go through after the SSA is completed,” he said.
