Permatang Tinggi to get new fire station in 2027

NIBONG TEBAL: A total of RM18mil has been allocated to develop nine community projects and as contributions for six non-Muslim houses of worship in Seberang Perai.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation included RM13.8mil for the Fire and Rescue Department to build a new station in Permatang Tinggi.

"We expect work on the 2.8ha site to start in March.

"It should be completed in 24 months.

"It would complement nearby stations to improve on response time," he said in his speech at the ministry's Jelajah Kasih programme in Sungai Udang on Tuesday (June 11).

The remaining allocation is for eight other projects such as the repainting of flats, resurfacing of roads, and upgrading of markets and drainage at various areas of Seberang Perai.

The minister had earlier visited five locations here to check on them.

Also present was Penang local government, town and country planning committee chairman H'ng Mooi Lye.
