Grasscutter killed by fallen tree near Tebobon school

KOTA KINABALU: A grasscutter was killed by a fallen tree near a school in Tebobon, not far from here, on Tuesday (June 11).

The 35-year-old was clearing grass near SMK Tebobon when the tree fell and crushed him at around 9am.

According to Lintas Fire Station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi, they received a call about the incident at around 9.08am and sent a team to respond.

"The victim was crushed under the tree. Our men had to chop off the branches before moving to the bigger trunk to get the victim out," she said in a statement.

She said medical officials at the scene pronounced the victim dead.

The body was handed over to police for further action, said Agustavia, adding that operations ceased at 9.52am.
