Cops probing alleged assault by bodyguard of a prominent individual


KUALA LUMPUR: Cops are probing an incident where a disabled ehailing driver was allegedly assaulted by a bodyguard of a prominent individual.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the 46-year-old victim was believed to have been assaulted in the lobby of a hotel here.

"I can confirm that we have opened an investigation paper concerning the report lodged.

"For now, no arrest has been made, and there is no CCTV footage in the area," he told a press conference at Bukit Aman on Wednesday (May 29).

He said the case is classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday (May 28) and went viral on social media.

It is learnt that the victim suffered a minor injury as a result of the incident.
