Fire ongoing at Iskandar Puteri paint factory


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A major fire has broken out at a paint processing factory at the Dato Yunus Sulaiman industrial park near Lima Kedai here.

In a statement, Johor Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call notifying about the fire incident which hit the factory located along Jalan Dato Yunus 1 at around 6.37pm on Monday (May 27).

“A total of 42 firemen from Skudai, Iskandar Puteri, Larkin and Pontian Baru fire and rescue stations have been deployed to the location immediately.

“The department has deployed assets including three Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles, one water tanker and one Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) to the location. The operation to control and put out the fire is still ongoing,” said the Department.

Meanwhile, Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Pandak Ahmad, who is present at the scene, said that he urged residents living nearby the factory not to be near as the fire was getting bigger.

“I urge the public living near the area to stay away from it to avoid casualties. The authorities such as the police and firemen are already at the scene to control the situation,” he said.
