Man found dead in padi field in Simpang Empat


ALOR SETAR: The lifeless body of a 67-year-old man was discovered in a padi field in Simpang Empat by a friend after he failed to return home on Saturday (May 25).

According to police, the victim's wife sought help from a friend to locate him before his body was found at 2.45pm on Saturday.

"It is believed that his death occurred between 9.30am and 2.30pm.

"Our investigation found that the victim left home at 7.15am to work in the padi field. He was still seen in the field at 9.30am but failed to return home for lunch at 1.30pm.

"At 2.45pm, the victim was found dead lying in the padi field where he was working," said police in a statement.

Initial investigations and checks on the victim's body found no foul play involved. His body has since been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.
