13 nabbed in scam call centres raids


KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen foreigners, including two women, have been detained in raids on scam call centres operating out of units in a luxury condominium at Jalan Ceylon here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the raids, conducted at about 8pm on Tuesday, saw the suspects aged between 23 and 38 arrested.

“We also seized seven laptops, 21 mobile phones and a modem.

“The syndicate was targeting victims from England and China,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Those detained were working as customer service officers.

“None of them have criminal records and they have all been remanded until Friday,” he added.

He urged anyone with information on criminal activity to contact the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 03-2600 2222 or any nearest police station.
