Sabah STAR wants Pejuang to entrust Sabah's governance to local parties

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR wants Pejuang to focus on the peninsula and leave the governance of Sabah to local parties.

Party vice president Datuk Kenny Chua said Sabahans had rejected Pejuang in the previous state election.

"Some people may argue that there is no difference between local or peninsular parties governing, but all I can say is look at Sarawak today, how strong and progressive they have become," he said in a statement on Monday (May 6).

"Sabahans have learned our lesson. We want to reclaim our power, and we will achieve this by managing our own affairs without any external interference," he said.

Commenting on reports of Pejuang's willingness to collaborate with political parties in Sabah, including Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties, Chua said: "While I appreciate Pejuang's intentions, they should focus on their objectives in the peninsular. Sabah is in the capable hands of local parties."

"To Pejuang, I appreciate the offer, but no thanks. Just stay in the peninsula. We're good in Sabah," concluded Chua.
