PM arrives at Madani Rakyat event in Penang


GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived at the Northern Zone Madani Rakyat programme for its closing ceremony at Pesta site in Sungai Nibong here on Sunday (May 5).

Accompanied by various ministers including Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, they then toured the various exhibitions before making their way to the main hall for the ceremony.

As of 10.30am, it was reported that some 35,000 visitors have thronged the event, which features a career fair and services offered by 196 ministries and government agencies.

Throughout the three-day event over the weekend, the event is expected to draw a crowd of 200,000 to 300,000 visitors from three states of Penang, Kedah and Perlis.

The Northern Zone Madani Rakyat programme is organised by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) through the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu) with the strategic cooperation of the Transport Ministry and the Penang government.

The programme will focus on agendas related to the people’s well-being, unity, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and integrated public transport.

Other focus points are agriculture and food security, career fair, guide to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education as well as artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to services provided by the federal and state government to the people.
