Routine police stop ends in comical chase in Meru

KLANG: Social media users were all 'a twitter' over a viral video showing two men running away from the police in Meru.

The video showed two foreign workers panicking and running after being stopped by police at a traffic light on Jalan Pasar Malam, here.

In a statement Friday (May 3), North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao said the incident occurred on Thursday (May 2) at 1pm.

He said the MPV SL 63 unit, which was on its crime prevention rounds, spotted the two men behaving suspiciously on a motorcycle.

"When the unit instructed them to stop, they ran away. Police gave chase," he said, adding both men were apprehended some 70m away.

He said a summons was issued to one of the men for riding a motorcycle without a licence.
