SPECULATION is rife that Bruno Mars will be appearing in the next season of popular Chinese reality singing contest Singer 2024, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The competition is said to have invited a foreign artiste to join the upcoming season that will begin on May 26.

While some Internet users speculated that it could be Rosé from South Korean girl group Blackpink, several sources claim that Mars is part of the lineup this year.

The organisers of Singer 2024 have yet to release the official list of artistes taking part.

Other artistes in the Chinese-speaking sphere who are rumoured to be taking part this year include veteran singer Na Ying, Yoga Lin and Eason Chan.

It was earlier reported that the show had been credited with reviving the careers of singers including Cyndi Wang, Rainie Yang and even the group Twins.

While rare, western singers have also been known to use Chinese reality TV shows to revive their careers.

In 2018, British singer Jessie J, who used to be a judge on The Voice UK, auditioned for the show and eventually emerged as champion, making her the first international artiste to have won.

> Former Star RFM 988 deejay May Lau finally held a traditional Nepalese wedding in her husband’s home country, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 42-year-old registered her marriage with Nepalese headmaster Palden Moktan last November before holding a Chinese wedding here the month after.

Lau returned to Nepal where she first met Palden to hold a ceremony in the Nepalese tradition.

She was spotted wearing the traditional Bakhu dress seated next to her husband in her Instagram photos.

It was reported that Lau met Palden when she travelled to Nepal on a solo trip in 2017 in a bid to get over her divorce.
