Two JB homes damaged in separate fires


JOHOR BARU: Two houses here were damaged in separate fires on Sunday (April 21) morning.

A Johor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said in the first incident, a distress call came in at 8.41am about a fire at a low-cost house along Jalan Tembaga Kuning 6 in Taman Sri Skudai here.

“We immediately deployed 27 firemen with one fire rescue tender, one light fire rapid tender, two emergency medical rescue service vehicles and two pickup trucks to the scene.

“The fire destroyed about 60% of the house – one bedroom, one bathroom and the living room area.

"Our team brought the fire under control at around 9.15am before ending the operation at 10.17am,” the spokesman added.

In the second incident, a distress call came in at 11.49am about a house fire along Jalan Keembong 15 in Taman Johor Jaya.

The spokesman said 16 firemen from the Johor Jaya and Tebrau stations were deployed.

“The second fire involved a double-storey terrace house. It is believed to have started in the living room and damaged 40% of the house,” the spokesman added.

He said the fire was quickly brought under control and the operation ended at about 1pm.

“No one was injured in the two incidents and the department is still investigating what caused them," he added.
