KKB by-election: PN to hold supreme council meeting on April 22


KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will hold a supreme council meeting this Monday, on the selection of candidate to contest in the Kuala Kubu Baharu state by-election on May 11.

Perikatan supreme council member and PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the meeting scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur at 5pm was expected to be attended by all Perikatan component party representatives.

"All parties will submit their respective proposed candidates who are eligible to run for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state by-election. The selected candidate must be a resident of Selangor," he told reporters after the Kota Baru parliament constituency Aidilfitri Open House, here Saturday (April 20).

The Election Commission (EC) set April 27 and May 7 for the by-election nomination of candidate and early voting respectively.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu state assembly seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong on March 21 due to cancer.

The electoral roll for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election has 40,226 voters comprising 39,362 regular voters, 625 policemen, 238 armed forces personnel and spouses and one overseas absentee voter. - Bernama
