Two lorry attendants killed in crash near Gopeng

IPOH: Two lorry attendants were killed when their vehicle crashed into the back of a trailer lorry at KM307 southbound on the North-South Expressway near Gopeng.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer-in-charge Mohd Hamidi Manas said the two victims, aged 26 and 29, from Bangladesh, were pronounced dead by Health Ministry personnel after the incident at 5.55am on Friday (April 5).

Mohd Hamidi said the lorry driver, 36, suffered a broken arm.

The 57-year-old driver of the trailer, which was transporting flour, was not injured.

"When we arrived, we found the victims trapped in the three-tonne lorry, which was carrying furniture.

"The bodies were handed over to the police for the next course of action," he said in a statement, while the lorry driver was sent for treatment.
