Datuk claims trial to hurting wife


KOTA KINABALU: A senior civil servant was charged at a Magistrate's Court here for causing hurt to his estranged wife last year.

Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie on Wednesday (April 3).

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to his wife Datuk Kalina Wong Ka Yee, 31.

According to the charge, the accused was said to have hurt Wong at around 1am on July 18 at a house in Taman Kingfisher 2 near the city here.

Stephanie set bail at RM1,000 with one surety and fixed April 17 for next mention.

Mansur was represented by Luke Ressa Balang while deputy public prosecutor Batrisyia Mohd Khusri prosecuted.
