IPOH: The police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved in hurling a Molotov cocktail at a KK Mart outlet in Bidor, Tapah.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusof Hassan Basri (pic) said the police had obtained CCTV footage of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday (March 26) at about 5.35am.

"We will be combing through the footage obtained.

"We are still investigating how many people were involved and the vehicle used in the incident," he said at a press conference on Tuesday after launching a commercial crime phone scam prevention programme with Pos Malaysia at the state police contingent headquarters here.

He said the Molotov cocktail that was thrown at the shop had only hit the five-foot walkway in front of the shop, and glass shards from the bottle were found in front of the shop.

"We also found some objects that looked like fireworks and liquid we believed to be gasoline found on the floor.

"A worker was inside the shop when she heard the sound of broken glass," he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the case would be investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.

"Those found guilty can be jailed up to two years or fined or both.

"We urge those with information about the incident to contact Tapah police at 05-401 1861," he said.
