Man nabbed with two samurai swords

SUBANG JAYA: A man has been arrested following the discovery of two samurai swords in his car.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police from the Bukit Puchong station flagged down the suspect, who was behaving suspiciously, and was driving a car near Taman Puchong Permai around 3am on Sunday (March 10).

"Our officers found the two swords at the back seat and the car boot respectively," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 12).

He said when interrogated, the suspect claimed that he found the two swords at a rubbish dump near Puchong Jaya and kept them in his car.

ACP Wan Azlan said the suspect, who has two prior records for criminal offences, had been charged at the Shah Alam Court under Section 7(1)(a) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, on Tuesday.

"We advise the public to refrain from carrying any weapons at public places," he warned.

He urged those with information on criminal activities to contact the Subang Jaya police control room at 03-7862 7100, adding that identities of the informants would be kept strictly confidential.
