Phoong unaware of Sabah MACC probe into his ministry officials

KOTA KINABALU: State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe (pic) claims that he is unaware of a probe being carried out by state graft investigators involving contracts and entrepreneur grants under the ministry.

However, Phoong said he was let the state Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) the matter, which was highlighted by the SabahBigMouth blog claiming that senior civil servants were being investigated over the alleged conflict of interest in the issuance of contracts for Small Medium Enterprise (SME) into the issuance of grants.

"Not aware. Let MACC handle it," he said Saturday (March 9) when asked about the blogsite's claims that MACC had raided the state ministry’s office and seized documents.

Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy could not be reached for immediate comments on the claims made by the blog.

The blog claimed that state MACC officers had confiscated documents from the office of a senior officer of the ministry.

The allegations by the blog site have gone viral on social media since Friday (March 8).
