J-Kom spent over RM5.5mil last year, says Fahmi


KUALA LUMPUR: The Community Communications Department (J-Kom) spent over RM5mil on community communications programmes in 2023, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister said in a written parliamentary reply that 144 community communications programmes were carried out nationwide, costing RM5,551,278.23.

Fahmi said there were 155 permanent positions and over 300 positions under the contract scheme.

“The appointments were made based on the Public Service Commission’s rules, procedures and policies of appointments of civil servants,” he said.

He was responding to a question by Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan (PN-Tasek Gelugor) on the effectiveness of J-Kom and the list of activities conducted last year and its cost.

J-Kom was allocated RM85.5mil in the Budget 2021 and it was reduced to RM40.5mil.
