Dr Wee congratulates new King for gracing opening of Third Session of 15th Parliament


PETALING JAYA: History was created today with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia officiating the opening of the first meeting of the Third Session of the 15th Parliament, said Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia also graced the occasion with her presence.

“May the coming Dewan Rakyat proceedings proceed smoothly and continue to prioritise the people’s agenda,” the Ayer Hitam MP and MCA president said in a Facebook post on Monday (Feb 26).

Their Majesties arrived at Parliament Square at 10am and were greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul and Dewan Negara President Datuk Mutang Tagal.

This is the first Parliament opening ceremony by Sultan Ibrahim since being sworn in as the 17th King of Malaysia on Jan 31.
