PETALING JAYA: A breeder was robbed at knife point of his mobile phone and two cats worth nearly RM10,000.Recalling his ordeal, the victim, who only wanted to be known as Ryan, 26, said he first met the suspect on the first day of Chinese New Year.

“The man came to my house and purchased a cat on Feb 10.

“A few days later, the man contacted me again and expressed interest in buying two more cats.

“He wanted to meet me at the parking lot of a shopping mall on Feb 18,” Ryan said yesterday.

Feeling that something was amiss, Ryan decided to meet the buyer at a nearby bus stop instead.

“I went there with my girlfriend at around 7.30pm and we noticed that the buyer’s car was smashed up, like it had just been involved in an accident.

“I went to speak to the buyer and entered his car...that was when he pulled out a knife and demanded that I transfer all my money to him,” he said, adding that the man also instructed one of his friends at the scene to take the cats from the woman.

Ryan said his girlfriend did not suspect anything as she could not see what was going on in the other vehicle.

“Once the other man took the cats, I saw an opportunity to escape. I unlocked the car door and tried to get out.

“It was then that the man brandished a machete and attempted to slash me,” he said, adding that he later received 36 stitches for injuries on his right arm and leg.

The suspects, said Ryan, fled the scene with the two cats worth nearly RM10,000 and his mobile phone.

“I am traumatised by the incident. They know where I live. What if they come to my house?” he worried.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed the incident.

“We have made arrests in connection with this case and will issue a statement soon,” he said when contacted.
