I'll deal with NSE ambulance tailgating claim soon, says Loke

IPOH: Transport Minister Anthony Loke says he will explain the alleged incident in which a minister’s car tailgated an ambulance on the North-South Expressway (NSE).

However, Loke said there were bigger and more pressing issues to deal with.

“We will talk about this later. I will provide an explanation soon," he said when launching KTMB’s open payment system at the Ipoh Railway Station on Thursday (Feb 8).

When asked if a VIP was allowed to tailgate an ambulance, Loke said that was not the case.

He had been asked to comment on an MCA statement urging him to reveal the name of the minister whose official vehicle allegedly tailgated the ambulance.

MCA’s deputy youth chief, Chong Yew Chuan, said on Tuesday (Feb 6) that Loke needed to take firm action on road safety matters.

In a screenshot of a Facebook post that went viral on X, a user claims the incident occurred along the NSE between Simpang Pulai and Tapah.

The photographs in the post-show a multipurpose vehicle bearing an emblem with the word “Menteri” (minister).
