Taib receiving treatment from doctor at home, says Abang Jo

KUCHING: Former Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud is receiving treatment at his private residence here, says Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said Abdul Taib was being treated by a doctor and a nurse from the Normah Medical Specialist Centre assigned to take care of him.

However, Abang Johari said he had not met Abdul Taib yet.

"I have also not received a report on his health. I need to ask the doctor for more information," he told reporters when met after the 2024 Sarawak Public Service Day celebration here on Wednesday (Feb 7).

Earlier on Wednesday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain denied claims that Abdul Taib was taken away and his whereabouts unknown to family members.

Two days ago, the Sarawak police confirmed they had received a report that Abu Taib was taken out of a hospital and that the case was being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for acts taken that could endanger the life or personal safety of others. – Bernama
