CNY cheer for the elderly and underprivileged in Kampung Morten

MELAKA: The God of Prosperity brought cheers to the elderly and underprivileged revellers at a Chinese New Year celebration at Kampung Morten here.

The joyous occasion was held at the service centre of Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong, who wished to share the festive cheer with the underprivileged community.

He also provided food and financial aid to 50 people at the event on Saturday (Feb 3).

"Some of them told me they only had RM100 in their pockets to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year.

"There was also an elderly childless couple who wanted to join my family for the reunion dinner on the eve of the festival," he said.

Low said he would also visit the welfare homes in his constituency to find out their needs and lend a helping hand, if needed.

He said a group reunion dinner has also been organised on the eve of Chinese New Year for families, who have been struggling to make ends meet while allowing them to celebrate the festive season contentedly.
