Man charged with cheating over RM RM115,000 in pilgrimage package scam


SEREMBAN: A 47-year-old company owner claimed trial at the Sessions Court to a charge of cheating a man regarding a pilgrimage package involving more than RM115,000.

Muzzamil Soliheen Musa pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam.

He was charged with deceiving the 53-year-old man of RM115,030 for a pilgrimage package.

The accused allegedly committed the offence between Jan 23 and 30 last year at a company premises in Nilai.

Judge Mohamad Kamil then allowed the accused to be released on a RM12,000 bail and ordered him to report at the nearest police station once a month pending the next mention.

M. Kalaivanan prosecuted, while Mohamed Musthafa represented the accused.

The accused was also told to surrender his passport to the court and not to contact the victim. The court then fixed March 11 for mention.

In another case at the Magistrate's Court, the accused also claimed trial to another charge of cheating a 31-year-old woman of RM51,330 for the same purpose.

Muzzamil pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli.

He allegedly committed the offence at the same place in Nilai between Jan 13 and Feb 23 last year.

The court allowed him to be released on a RM2,000 bail with one surety pending mention.

The accused was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code for both offences.

Offenders can be jailed between one and 10 years, fined and whipped upon conviction.

Nik Nur Aqilah Syarfa Nik Zaidi prosecuted. The case was then fixed for remention on March 12.
