GOLD number plate series launched by ministry in conjunction with 50th FT Day

PUTRAJAYA: The Transport Ministry has launched a “Gold” number plate series in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Federal Territories (FT) Day.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the bidding for the “Gold” series will begin at 12.01am on Feb 1 and last until 10pm on Feb 5.

Results will be announced on Feb 6.

He explained that the “Gold” number plate series represented the golden jubilee celebration for FT Day.

“Bidding will be done through the JPJeBid system,” he told a press conference at the ministry on Tuesday (Jan 30).

Loke added that the minimum bids for single-digit numbers will be RM20,000.

The minimum bid for “attractive” numbers would be RM3,000, followed by popular numbers (RM800) and running numbers (RM300).

“Successful bidders will have to register the numbers to cars within 12 months from when bidding results are announced,” he said.

He added that the highest revenue generated from special numbers plates so far was from the “FF” series, raking in RM35mil.
