Passers-by foil robbery attempt at Batu Caves

GOMBAK: A robbery was foiled at Batu Caves due to help from passers-by.

In a statement on Thursday (Jan 25), Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said that the incident occurred on Wednesday (Jan 24) afternoon.

"A 64-year-old lady was walking towards the Batu Caves temple with her two grandchildren, aged 17 and 15. A 64-year-old female foreigner then pushed the victim while trying to grab her necklace.

"The victim screamed and the suspect let her go. The suspect then attempted to flee but she was caught by passers-by who came to the victim's aid," he said.

The suspect was then handed over to the police and a remand order will be obtained on Thursday at the Selayang Magistrate's Court.
