JOHOR BARU: The police have never given any special treatment to the main suspect in the murder case of Mila Sharmilah Samsusah, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police denied allegations on social media pertaining to the police investigation after Bella’s boyfriend, Mohammad Haikal Mahfuz, 25, was released despite being initially arrested following Bella’s disappearance.

Explaining further, Razarudin said: “After having his statement recorded, he was out on police bail as there was not enough evidence initially to charge him. But further investigation led to the discovery of new evidence.

“It is not that the police freed the suspect because we wanted to give him the opportunity to perform the umrah,” he said.

He also said that the autopsy report found Bella’s cause of death was a fracture in the head caused by a blunt object.
