Three men escape crash with minor injuries in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: Three people escaped with minor injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned in an accident along Jalan Keliangau, Manggatal near here.

The 20-year-olds identified as Sylvester, Daniel Chua and Roland, were said to be heading out for an outing when the accident happened at around 8.30pm Tuesday (Jan 23).

It is believed that the driver had lost control of the car before it skidded off the road and turned turtle.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Kenneth Wilfred said they received a call about the incident at around 8.37pm.

“When rescuers arrived, they saw that the victims from the overturned vehicle had been brought out to safety,” he said in a statement, Wednesday (Jan 24).

He said passers-by had helped the three victims and got them out of the car before firemen arrived at the scene.

Kenneth said two of them escaped unscathed while one sustained a small cut on his eyebrow.

They were all given preliminary medical attention before being sent to the hospital for further examination.

“Operations ceased at 9.09pm after all hazardous elements were cleared from the scene,” he said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
