Thai national shot dead by foreigners in waters off Pantai Remis


IPOH: A Thai national was shot dead by a group of foreign men while on a boat near the coast of Pantai Remis in Manjung.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the victim was shot in the head during the incident on Tuesday (Jan 23) at about 12.20pm.

"We received the report from a boat owner who was informed by his worker through a walkie-talkie.

"The group of men are believed to be Indonesians," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 24).

ACP Mohamed Nordin said the body has been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post mortem.

"We are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.

"We are also trying to identify those involved," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"Those with information about the incident are to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Azalan Ab Karim on 019-392 7837 to facilitate investigation," he added.
