Lorry suffers brake failure, ploughs into six vehicles in Penang

TASEK GELUGOR: One person was injured in an accident after the brakes on a lorry failed, which led to the vehicle ploughing into six other vehicles at the Jalan Ara Kuda traffic lights interchange here on Saturday (Jan 20).

Seberang Prai north acting police chief Supt Siti Nor Salawati Saad said during the 11.15am accident, the lorry was on its way to Lunas, Kedah from Tasek Gelugor when its brakes stopped functioning.

She said as the lorry approached the traffic lights, the lorry driver tried to slow down the vehicle, swerving from left to right before crashing into six vehicles waiting at the junction.

"Six vehicles were damaged but there were no casualties. Only one car driver was injured," said Supt Siti Nor Salawati in a statement on Sunday (Jan 21).
