Wanted man killed in shootout with cops in Puchong


SUBANG JAYA: A man with an extensive criminal record has been killed in a shootout with police in Puchong Prima here.

Many curious onlookers crowded the area as police blocked off the road where the shooting occurred.

At around 7pm on Sunday (Jan 14), police were seen towing away a car that possibly belonged to the suspect.

A viral video of the incident shot from a nearby apartment shows several men, believed to be police in plain clothes, shouting before a single gunshot is heard.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement, confirmed that the shootout occurred in front of the Sri Acasia apartment in Taman Puchong Prima.

"The suspect was killed in the shootout. Records showed that he had seven criminal- and six narcotics-related offences. He is also a wanted man.

"Follow-up investigations will be conducted by the Subang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department.

"The police have also detected a video of the incident that has been shared on social media. We urge the public to not share the video as it could lead to public unrest," he said.
