Two cops arrested over rape and robbery of college students


AMPANG JAYA: Two policemen have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a local man and rape of a foreign woman.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that two reports were lodged by the man and woman, both college students.

"In the incident which occurred at 10.09pm on Tuesday (Jan 9) at Bukit Ampang View, the duo were stopped by the two men in uniform. The two suspects then separated both victims and took them to different locations," he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 11).

He said one of the suspects allegedly raped the woman while the other took the male victim to a bank to withdraw money to pay both suspects, said to be for a traffic offence.

"Following the incident, a team of policemen from the Ampang Jaya police headquarters arrested both suspects. They have been remanded for seven days," he said.

Comm Hussein said two investigation papers have been opened in connection with the incident, one for armed gang robbery under Section 395 and Section 397 of the Penal Code and another for rape under Section 376 of the same Code.

"We will not compromise with any officer or personnel involved in any criminal cases or misconduct and investigations will be conducted transparently.

"We urge anyone with information on the case to come forward immediately," he said, adding that those with information to contact the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at 03-4289 7222.
