'Kepung Demi Palestin' organisers arrive to give statements to cops


KUALA LUMPUR: Several organisers of the "Aksi Bertindak: Kepung Demi Palestin" protest have turned up at Wangsa Maju police headquarters for questioning on Friday (Jan 5) morning.

Among them were former Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, former Petaling Jaya MP and activist Maria Chin Abdullah, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abdul Hadi, former Batu MP Tian Chua, and PSM secretary-general Sivarajan Arumugam.

Amir Hariri told reporters they were not sure why they were called in for questioning as the rally was peaceful.

"This not only wastes the media's time but also our time and the time of the authorities who are investigating this matter.

"We will go in and find out just why we have been called to have our statements recorded.

"Once we are done we will address the media again," he said.
