MELAKA: A 47-year-old prisoner pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on his cellmate.
The accused, Akhirin Jufri, was charged at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh before Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail on Friday (Dec 29).
Based on two charge sheets, the accused had forcefully sodomised a 22-year-old victim. The charges were framed under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 20 years in jail and whipping if found guilty.
The accused faced the third charge under Section 377CA of the Penal Code for inserting one of his fingers into the victim's anus.
Under the Section, the accused could be jailed for up to 30 years and whipped upon conviction.
The offences were committed at Sungai Udang Prison Complex at midnight on Nov 25.
The court fixed Jan 10, next year, as the sentencing date.
