Scheduled water cut on Dec 21 to affect 9,000 consumers in Air Itam

GEORGE TOWN: About 9,000 consumers in several parts of Air Itam will be affected by a scheduled water supply interruption from 9am to 9pm on Dec 21 for connection of diverted water pipes.

"The connection works are needed because of the construction of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu to Air Itam flyover project by the state," Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) chief executive officer K. Pathmanathan said in a statement on Friday (Dec 15).

He said the areas affected would be the Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Lintang Angsana intersection and Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Farlim Market intersection.

"In order to facilitate the pipe connection works, PBAPP must temporarily shut down a 600mm mild steel pipeline in the area.

"This pipeline shutdown will cause a 12-hour scheduled supply interruption along Lebuhraya Thean Teik and nearby areas in Air Itam.

"PBAPP apologises for the inconvenience caused by this scheduled interruption."

He advised consumers to store enough water for their use ahead of the disruption.
