IPOH: Perak's 2024 budget has been approved by the state assembly with all 53 of the 59 assemblymen present during the sitting voting in its favour.

In his winding-up speech on Thursday (Dec 7), Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the state government would continue to help all constituencies, regardless of whether their elected representatives are from the government or the opposition bloc.

“During the tabling of the budget, I mentioned that RM45.5mil would be allocated to coordinate, improve and strengthen the delivery of governmental services to all 59 constituencies in Perak.

“We are drafting a circular containing guidelines on the procedures and the state will look at the methods implemented by other states as examples and references,” he said.

“The circular is expected to be presented in January,” he added.

Saarani also said that as of Thursday, the state government had collected about RM1.09bil in revenue this year.

On Friday (Dec 1), Saarani tabled the RM1.35bil budget, the highest in the state's history.

Of the amount, RM491mil would be for development while RM856mil would be for operating expenses.
