Man nabbed for obstruction in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: A man has been arrested for obstructing a police officer from carrying out his duties in Sebana Cove of Pengerang here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said police received a report from residents regarding the suspect, in his 30s, who had trespassed into the neighbourhood at 4.30pm on Sunday (Dec 3).

"Initial investigations revealed that the man was behaving suspiciously while riding on his motorcycle in the area.

"“A police team ordered for him to stop for an inspection but he sped off towards Pengerang town," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 4).

Supt Hussin said the man was arrested in Jalan Pularek of Sungai Rengit around 6pm later.

"During the arrest, he acted aggressively and tried to run away," he said, adding the suspect was tested negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing government officials from carrying out their duties, which carries a jail term of up to two months, a fine of up to RM10,000 or both.
