GEORGE TOWN: Nine workers are feared dead after a building under construction collapsed in Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Bayan Lepas here.

Initial report from the Fire and Rescue Department said the incident at the construction site near the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) occurred at about 9.58pm.

"When rescuers arrived at the scene, a building under construction had collapsed.

"Initial information obtained was that nine victims are trapped and rescue efforts are ongoing," said the statement, adding that the status of all victims were unknown.
