Four children, one just a baby, abandoned at Perak Tengah govt office


IPOH: Four children, including a 10-month-old infant, have been abandoned at the Perak Tengah District Administrative Complex in Kampung Gajah.

Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the children were left there at 10.50am on Thursday (Nov 23).

"We were informed of the incident by the Kampung Gajah Social Welfare officer at about 5.40pm.

"A security guard informed the officer that the four children had been left in front of the guardhouse by an unknown woman, who then drove off," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 24).

"Three of the children are boys, aged 11, three and 10 months, and the fourth is a six-year-old girl."

Supt Hafezul Helmi said the 11-year-old told authorities they had been chased out of their grandmother's house in Kampung Kuchai, Bota.

"They were sent to the administrative complex by an unknown woman.

"They are now at a children's shelter in Gopeng.

"Police are still trying to track down the children's parents or next of kin," he said, adding that anyone with information can contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Hanif Dzulkifli at 012-647 7452.
