School gardener charged with security guard's murder


IPOH: A school gardener has been charged in a Magistrate's Court here with the murder of a security guard.

However, no plea was recorded from R. Ravinderan, 55, after the charge was read out before Magistrate S. Punitha on Thursday (Oct 19), as the case comes under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Ravinderan was charged with murdering Faizal Asri, 43, in the guardhouse of SJK (C) Seri Botani Simpang Pulai Ipoh here between 3pm and 8pm on Friday (Oct 13).

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which is punishable with death or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years with no fewer than 12 strokes, if found guilty.

The prosecution was conducted by DPP Vatchira Wong Rui Fern, while Ravinderan was represented by lawyer Hanifatinnasikha Mod Dimiyati.

No bail was offered and the court set Jan 10 for mention. – Bernama
