RM150 schooling aid to be paid out from January


PETALING JAYA: The one-off Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP) schooling assistance cash aid of RM150 will be disbursed from early January, says the Education Ministry.

It said in a statement that it took note of concerns among the people about the absence of any mention of BAP during the Budget 2024 announcement on Friday (Oct 13) and clarified that the aid will continue.

Students from households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and below are eligible for BAP.

"Budget 2024 allocated RM788.13mil specifically for the purpose of BAP with RM150 to each student on a one-off basis. It will benefit a total of 5.254 million students.

"BAP will be channelled from January through schools and distributed to students in cash or credit to their respective accounts," the Ministry said on Monday (Oct 16).

The public is also advised to refer to the special Budget 2024 website at https://belanjawan.mof.gov.my/ms provided by the Finance Ministry for more information.
